Old Habits Die Hard...but they WILL DIE!

Here on this fourth day into the Summer of Transformation (SOT for short) I'm faced with the fact that while (1) People can change; (2) Change is painful and definitely not easy.  I'm pumped, ready to go, making progress, but not without a fight!

Over the last few days, I've had great time with God...meaningful connections with my wife and kids, but MARGINAL success with my health focus!  It seems I do ok for the whole day...and then...BLOW IT sometime after 8 p.m.  Oh, well...I'm trying to walk out my own sermon...and let God renew my mind so that I THINK from a different reality...His!  (I rebuke that sweet spirit of cookies-n-milk @ bedtime)

Here's a great quote from a pretty smart man (Albert Einstien)...
"The significant problems we face cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them."
AMEN, Mr. Einstien...you stole that from Jesus (via Paul)!
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (Rom 12:2 NLT)
God's will is not a mystery.  It is clearly revealed in the person of Jesus!  Each day is a new day and begins with inviting the Holy Spirit to empower us to think from God's reality.  Remember, the habits we have did not appear overnight...consequently, they won't die easy...BUT THE WILL DIE.  With consistent obedience to the voice of God, the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, and sheer determination...I'm after transformation!

Awesome blog, Pastor D! As I don't need to lose 10 lbs (I could stand to gain 10), the biggest excitement for me is reading the Bible in 90 days. It means turning the TV off when I so desperately need to see who got voted off my favorite reality TV series. :-)

I'm anxious to see what God is going to do in and through us in the next 90 days!

Awesome blog and awesome commitment. I know that very soon you will find that strength you need to pay attention to your body. I know the same for myself. We will do this and be successful.
I'm still so excited~

Thank you for relaying the LORD'S words via your blog! It helped me to realize that the problem isnt the bad habit (former thinking) the problem is me (new thinking)therefore I can distance myself from old ways all I want to but it will never work unless I change the way I think! Thank you much Pastor D for helping my realize this!!!!
